Seacore is proud to be a founding member of Sea Pact, a North American alliance for sustainable seafood that consists of 9 of the leading seafood distributors in Canada and the United States. Two key projects were funded this past year:
1) WWF Chilean Salmon Aquaculture Improvement Project. This project has a goal of achieving Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certification. It's impact is great by helping the Chilean net-pen farmed salmon industry to become a global leader in responsible practices through the ASC Certification Standard.
2) University of North Texas project of Probiotics replacing Antibiotics in Marine Finfish Aquaculture. This project has a goal of reducing the dependence on antibiotic usage in finfish aquaculture through the use of probiotics which leads to faster and healthier growth of fish.
Both projects are very exciting and as a member of Sea Pact, Seacore is extremely proud in being able to help fund and support both projects. Sea Pact is taking sustainable seafood to a whole new level by seafood distributors that care about our environment and our future generations.
